The weather in London has been pretty glum for weeks now – and we’re tired of it! Instead of staying indoors and rinsing the Netflix subscription, I’ve been getting out and about in London and here’s some things I can recommend to do to avoid the chill.
Boat on the Thames – Whilst the sun is still setting early, try an ‘Afternoon Tea’ river cruise, starting from Tower Hill and heading up to Battersea, with tea, scones, sarnies and spectacular sunset views!
British Museum – Not just another museum, the British Museum’s structure is impressive enough, and that’s before you get to the mummies, the Roman jewellery and the ancient temple that has been deconstructed in Greece and put back together in the museum. Fancy geeking out for an afternoon? This one’s for you.
Tower of London – As well as exploring the tower’s grounds, there’s also plenty to do indoors – including the Crown Jewels and visiting exhibitions. The extensive history and the charming modern life behind the walls of the Tower of London definitely make it an interesting and worthwhile experience.
Make your own gin – Head to the East End Liquor Company and spend an afternoon learning how gin is made before sampling plenty for yourself – perfect!
Grab a glass of wine – Head to Gordon’s Wine Bar next to Embankment Station for great wine and a cosy atmosphere in the bar’s cave-like setting. If you get peckish, they do some great platters and meat boards too…
Brunch – time for brunch and cocktails with a view. Head to the OXO Tower for a classy afternoon. If you want to sit outside, you can, but in this weather, it’s fine to stay inside and enjoy the view from the warm!
Harry Potter fans – Head to the ‘House of Mina Lima’ in Soho where the team behind the amazing artwork in the ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Fantastic Beasts’ films and showcasing some of their amazing work. This is a must for any adoring fans!
Secret Cinema – the latest Secret Cinema experience of Moulin Rouge has just started – grab your tickets and get ready for an amazing immersive experience!
See some comedy – Head to Leicester Square Theatre and watch the hilarious improv theatre show ‘Austentatious’! The characters take your show name ideas and create a hilarious Austen before your eyes! No show is the same!
Just because it’s cold, there’s no reason to hide indoor for the next few months. Try out some of the above and share with me below what you’ve been up to around the city over the winter months!
