So, apparently summer has begun and in-between the rain showers, we’ve seen enough sunshine to manage to get a sunburn (?!) but if you’re in London this summer, what should you be ticking off the list?
Not been to the theatre in too long?
Why not try something a little different with ‘Kinky Boots‘? The witty, colourful and loud musical is great fun and those transvestites dancing in stilettos are seriously impressive! Or take in a Disney classic in the form of new musical ‘Aladdin‘ or Pixie Lott in ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s‘.
Love a good dose of history?
It’s time to brace yourself for the tourists and head to one of London’s most impressive and oldest historic sites. As well as being the home to the Crown Jewels, the Tower of London is also home to a little community of Beefeaters who live there – they even have their own pub! There’s a great view from the tower wall walk you can do and there’s currently an interesting exhibition on about the animals that have lived in the castle over the years, including a polar bear, monkeys and snakes! If you live in Tower Hamlets, take your Idea Store card and proof of address and you can get in for £1!
Fancy a bit of action?
If you’re looking for something fun to do in London, head to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. There’s finally a slide on The Orbit – and it’s everything we hoped it would be! Once you’ve whizzed yourself back down to earth, the beach and fair in the park is now open for summer too – that’s a full weekend sorted!
Just fancy a drink and a chill?
There’s loads of fantastic pubs dotted around London but if you’re central, one of my favourites is ‘The Dickens Inn’ in St Catherine’s Docks, a pretty thatched pub with ample outdoor seating (and the footy on inside if you’re into the Euros). This is where you’ll find me!
Fancy a different view?
Head to the lovely Greenwich, a town worth exploring anyway, then jump on a passenger boat down by the Cutty Sark and take in London from the river, jumping off at either Embankment or Big Ben. If you’re lucky, you might even see Tower Bridge raising for a boat!
Avoiding the summer showers?
Head to the new indoor Swingers Crazy Golf and play a round! Afterwards, you can grab some grub at one of the restaurant pop up stalls there. There’s ‘Patty and Bun’, ‘Pizza Pilgrims’ and plenty more so it’s time to get your golf on this summer, come rain or shine!
Well there’s enough to keep you busy over the summer in London! What else would you guys recommend to do this summer?
